Cantabria se plantea abrir siete plantas de basuras, estas plantas de localizaran en:
- Una planta de transferencia de residuos domésticos y comerciales en el área Bahía de Santander.
- Dos plantas de tratamiento (en el sur de la región y en Cabezón de la Sal) y otra de transferencia (zona de Liébana) de residuos de construcción y demolición
- Un centro de recepción y descontaminación para el tratamiento de vehículos fuera de uso en el área occidental de la comunidad autónoma.
- Una planta de valorización de lodos de depuradora.
- Una planta de biometanización para biorresiduos, sin especificar ubicación.
